I usually write a couple paragraphs with some wit thrown in to explain the meaning behind the logo and how I ended up with a particular solution. I think the easiest way for me to present this logo is to watch the following short video.
TUEBOR!
I really wanted to lean into the Michigan aspect of this. Like really lean into it. I was originally going to do something with the actual shape of the state, but after a few variations of that I noticed it just looked like every other Michigan themed logo ever created. That wouldn't work, so I went digging to see if I could find any other cool Michigan themed symbolism. The seal on the state flag really stood out. You probably already know what it means.
Apparently in 1835 Michigan adopted the seal used on the state flag. The latin word "Tuebor" Means "I will defend" Hopefully you can see my logic here. What if we applied that seal to a modern organization of public safety teams and members? We can be kind of loose with the definition. Defend, protect, help, search, serve. All things these organizations can be doing with new technology not yet thought of in 1835. No longer is defense and public safety just a man wielding a musket with a fast response time. The safety of Michiganders and their infrastructure now relies on technology that offers a new perspective for the guys on the ground. Also the use of the badge shape in the seal is just translates perfectly for use in police/fire/emergency management.

There are a couple versions here. The logo with the abbreviated name is a secondary logo and is to be used where people/members already know the full name of the organization. It's also perfect to use for stickers/hats/patches.
